How to Apply
Applying for the M.A. in Philosophy of Science is possible both for the winter semester (application deadline 15. July) and the summer semester (deadline 15. January). Applications must be submitted online through the website of the central Registration Office of the Leibniz Universität:
Please note that the German academic calendar is out of synch with the U.S. or British academic calendars. Students who would like to begin the MA program in the winter semester but need to reach acceptance decisions by April are encouraged to apply for admission to the summer semester (deadline 15. January) and defer the beginning of their studies for one semester.
To be considered for admission you need to have completed a bachelor degree or equivalent. To be considered for admission your application must include the following:
A cover letter including a statement of purpose, in which you explain why you would like to join the program.
A CV (including the list of courses that you have taken as an undergraduate).
A copy of your undergraduate transcript. If your transcript is neither in German nor in English, please send a separate document (in English) explaining the meaning of your grades.
Proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL or equivalent), in case your first language is neither English nor German.
Further information, including a copy of the admission and examination regulations, can be found on the website of the Institute of Philosophy.
